We all know teenagers are the young assets of any country. If they are utilized in a right way they can do anything that you cant even imagine.

To die old with a young mind is such a tragedy. Naiveness was never a blessing.

The mind of any teenager is jus like clay, to which you can do anything. Literally you can do anything, you can craft this clay into any antique product of just waste like mud. It’s upto you what do you want? So, clearly media can also do same the mindset of teenagers. Here are some pros and cons of media on the mindset of teenagers:

Pros of media on the mindset of teenagers:

  1. Knowledge

It’s quite clear how the media is helping the students especially teenagers to grasp knowledge. Gaining knowledge has now became quite easier task with the emergence of media. A 2 rupee newspaper can give you such an information that you might not get by reading 20 books. Some of the interesting and informative channels on TV can provide much depth about any topic.

2. Exam Preparation

There are many informative media sources that help you directly as well as indirectly to qualify exams, From indirect sources, viz news channels/newspapers help you to prepare for civil service exams. Many aspirants who qualified civil service exams have quoted that the media helped them to crack the exam. Their is one of my friend, he cracked GATE exam by watching only YouTube videos. Here is the screenshot of a newspaper quoting a student who qualified engineering exams by watching YouTube videos.

3. Skill Development

Todays’ world need skilled man. You can ignore a man with a heap of degrees but not a man with best skills. Now-a-days media has great role in developing skills among teenagers. Vocational studies are being promoted by the media in order to enhance their personal development. The new education policy
(NEP) of India also focuses on the skill development. Some media channels give step by step tutorials to learn skills viz carpeting, goldsmith, construction, programming, communication and much more.

Cons of media on the mindset of teenagers

Don’t take me otherwise, but it’s true today media has more cons on the mindset of teenagers then pros.

Media plays a dictator role in our life

I know, in India, specially in Bollywood and the sports fraternity, there is a lot of negative media attention on prominent public figures. ~Leander Paes

  1. False News

Earlier false news was due to the mistake of any reporter. By chance any reporter accidentally reported wrong about any event and so by this way news also went wrong. But now-a-days false news is being created with proper propaganda. False news is being created in order to panic or to introduce any ideology among teenagers. This introduction of false news plays a great win-win role for the propaganda runners but ultimately this false propaganda rotten the young minds of a country.

2. Bad Content

Media has great role in making the career of teenagers as I already mentioned above. But the impact of bad content that is being promoted by media is much greater. You better know how television advertisement promotes some nude and bad content.

In a survey it is also concluded that in every 1 minute somewhere in world and advertisement is being run that promotes killings. This is the major cause of domestic violence in countries.

Children are mostly targeted by this

You imagine a 7 year old kid watches an advertisement that promoted killing or bad content, how can we expect good from him. We now a days hear about son killing father or mother, why all this happens? This is just because his mind was groomed like this. From him killing doesn’t mean anything. It’s not his mistake it’s the mass propaganda run by false media.

This is the recent news, what do you guess from that? Yes, it is not just because of media only but media also has great role on the mindset of teenagers.

Crex of the article

I don’t defame media in this article, in fact I at times thank media for promoting humanitarian things, knowledge and skills but at the same time I feel media somewhere has really great bad impact also. What should we do now? We don’t have to stop watching media channels, read newspapers or any other media outlet. But we have to moderate the content that is being provided to us.

Garbage in, Garbage out

If we follow upper strategy we can prevent our mind from getting rotten. It’s our duty as human beings to prevent the teenagers from getting influenced by such propagandas. As a parent one should moderate the content on TV so that their kid don’t spoil. As a citizen we should bring bad and dirty content in notice of authorities so that they take any proper action.
